Jesse Vaughan Named SCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
|
The sophomore forward from Spokane scored 48
points against South Puget Sound on Sunday in the 3rd place game at the
Pierce College Thanksgiving Tournament. He also added 20 points in 2
point victory against Pierce College in the opening round of the tournament and
18 in a loss Whatcom CC in the semifinals. Vaughan is averaging 28 points a
game in four games this season for the Dolphins who are off to a 3-1 start.
Jesse was named
All-Tournament at the event as he averaged 29.3 points a game for three day
tournament.
SCC plays in the
Community College of Spokane Tournament this week in Spokane, WA.

SCC Men's Basketball Pounds South Puget Sound 111-93
|
The Dolphin Basketball Team defeated South Puget Sound Community College on Sunday afternoon 111-93 at the Pierce College Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament in Lakewood, WA.  Sophomore Jesse Vaughan scored 48 for the SCC squad along with 11 rebounds and 7 steals. He had siginificant help from Joe Bodman who had 21 rebounds and 17 points on the night and Will Acromite who scored 19 points. SCC was dominate on the boards, out rebounding SPSCC 62-34. SCC led 51-39 at halftime and never looked back. SCC captures 3rd Place at the tournament and is 3-1 on the season so far. SCC is averaging 110.5 points per game so far.
SCC travels to Spokane next weekend to play in the Community College of Spokane/North Idaho College Basketball Tournament.

SCC Drops First Game of Year To Whatcom CC
The SCC Men's Basketball Team scored 109 points, but this time, it was not enough, as Whatcom Community College beat the Dolpins 118-109 at the Pierce College Thanksgiving Tournament.
SCC trailed by only 3 points at half, 60-57 but WCC outscored Shoreline 58-52 in the second half for the nine point win. Whatcom out rebounded SCC 43 to 33 to secure enough second chance baskets for the difference.
Jordan Lupfer led SCC with 20 points while Jesse Vaughan added 18 points and led the Dolphins in rebounds with 8.
SCC faces South Puget Sound CC today at 1:00 PM at the Pierce College gym in the 3rd place game of the tournament. SPSCC lost to Bellevue College on Saturday 103 to 83. The finals of the tournament is an "All-Northern Region" affair with Whatcom Vs Bellevue and with SCC in the 3rd place game, 3 of the final 4 teams are from the tough NWAACC Northern Division.

SCC Men's Basketball Defeats Pierce College 110-108
The Dolphin Basketball Team scored over 100 points again and won another close game by beating the Raiders by 2 points in a high scoring affair. SCC had defeated Northwest Indian College on Sunday, 113-112, in the season opener. Kelly Hong led SCC with 28 points, hitting 7 of 8 three pointers he shot.
Will Acromite added 23 and Jesse Vaughan 20 points to back up Hong in the scoring. Joe Bodman had 10 rebounds for the Dolphins in his first game of the season, after missing the opener with a concussion.
Shoreline made 11 of 21 three pointers and 29 of 42 free throws in the game. SCC led 53-46 at halftime.
SCC plays fellow NWAACC Northern Region member, Whatcom Community College, tonight at 7:00 PM in the semi-finals of the tournament at Pierce College. WCC is ranked 8th in the NWAACC Preseason poll.

SCC Names Jesse Vaughan Men's Basketball Player of the Week

The sophomore forward from Spokane led SCC to their opening
game victory over Northwest Indian College on Sunday afternoon in Bellingham,
WA by scoring 27 points and having 13 rebounds with 2 blocked shots and 3
steals. SCC won the game 113-112. Vaughan, a redshirt sophomore who
sat out 2010-11 was a major contributor in the 2009-10 SCC basketball team that won the NWAACC Northern
Region Championship.
SCC plays Friday night at Pierce College in the
Pierce Thanksgiving Tournament. SCC faces the host team Pierce in the opening
round at 8:00 PM. The tournament continues through Sunday. SCC plays its first
home game of the year on December 11th in a rematch with Northwest Indian
College at 6:00 PM.

SCC Men's Basketball Wins Opener 113-112 Over NW Indian College

The SCC Men's Basketball Team scored 113 points to start the season and needed every point, as they edged Northwest Indian College 113-112 on Sunday afternoon in Bellingham, WA.
Jesse Vaughan made his first start in over a year count, scoring 27 points and hitting the go ahead basket with 5 seconds left. Kevin Hong added 20 points including 6 three pointers and Jordan Lupfer added 15. SCC plays in the Pierce College Thanksgiving Tournament starting on Friday. They will face Pierce in the opening round at 8:00 PM.
