Creating a New User Account

new account.
You may want to print this page to refer to later.
To access Shoreline courses that are delivered online in the Blackboard CourseInfo environment, you need to have a User Account. If you have already created an account and want to enroll in a course, go to Enrolling in a Course for more information.
Creating a New Account
The first step is to open a web browser and connect to the Shoreline Distance Learning server at: http://online.shore.ctc.edu.
The opening screen (Figure1 below) will appear. Next, click on the Create Account button located to the left on the screen.

Clicking on Create Account will bring up an Account Information screen (Figure 2 below).

Step 2 requires you to fill in the Personal Information section and the Account Information section.
Your Personal Information must include your first name, your last name, and your e-mail address.
*Note: If you do not already have an e-mail account and address, you can create one through Shoreline. Information about creating an e-mail account can be found at: http://zoot.shore.ctc.edu/info/
In the Account Information section ,you need to create a user name and password that you will use to login to Blackboard and to your course(s). You should choose a user name that is easy to remember. A good user name can be created by combining your first initial and your last name. For example, if your name is Jeff James, you could create the user name jjames.
*Note: You will not be able to change your username once it has been created.
At this time, you also have the ability to add Optional Information about yourself. You will have the chance to update and change this information later if you want.
When you have finished putting in all the required and optional information, click on the Create New Account button at the bottom of the page.
If there is a problem creating your account, Blackboard will send you an error message describing the problem and will give you the opportunity to fix it. Generally, problems will occur when you do not supply all the required information and/or you choose a user name that is already in the system.
If you were successful in creating an account, you will see an Account Generated! information screen (Figure 3 below).

Congratulations!
You now have access to Shoreline Community College's Blackboard Online
Learning Community. Each time you want to access Blackboard, simply go to http://online.shore.ctc.edu
and login with the user name and password that you just created.
